New Zealand brother and sisters Morgan Sibbald, Zoe Williams, and Ruth Sibbald’s label Zoe & Morgan showcased their jewellery brand in Somerset House at London Fashion Week 2014, with a collection titled ‘Eye of the Tiger’. Thread’s reporter Alia Gargum was there to tell us all about it…

Day two of London Fashion Week is one of the busiest days out there- the day where things really get into full gear.
The initial nervousness of kicking the week off is gone and London changes into a parade of those in fashion- on the catwalk, the street and of course at fashion week HQ, Somerset House. Pushing past the hordes of streetstyle photographers (who all seemed to be photographing each other in a frenzy of mutual fashion appreciation) I met the lovely Ruth Sibbald who introduced me to the new Zoe and Morgan (www.zoeandmorgan.com) Autumn/Winter 2014 “Eye of the Tiger” collection.
The collection was inspired by family travels to the Himalayan mountains, and the traditional patterned rugs, weaving, tigers (naturally), tattoos and icons of the area. This may sound like inspiration overload, but this family-run business knows jewellery and how to make pieces that work no matter if you’re wearing a statement necklace or several delicate chains and rings.
Below: The double-tiger statement necklace.
The simple but feminine designs make sure you never look like you’ve over-accessorised, and there’s something about the almost-vintage-but-still-modern look that makes each piece look like it’s already been your favourite sparkler in the jewellery box.
The tattoo aspect of the collection is fantastic- a collaboration with illustrator and tattoo artist Minka Sicklinger brings a personal touch to each piece. Sicklinger is a tattoo artist from NYC they collaborated with on this season’s designs, mixing Bhutanese iconography with her own signature symbols for the collection. Unlike tattoos, though, you can change around and add as much of this collection as you like without fear of a tattoo needle.
Ruth and the team were even giving out temporary tattoos based on the collection, alluding to the very much cool-girl status this internationally-acclaimed brand has.

There’s something a little rock and roll mixed in with exotic travels about Zoe and Morgan- but never too showy or brash. The eye motif – symbol of happiness and protection for the wearer – adorned rings, necklaces and earrings.
I also loved the choice and range of what was on offer; simple studs to jaw-dropping jewels (which reminded me of their gorgeous wedding range) and everything in between.
Anyone would be happy with a piece of jewellery heaven from Zoe and Morgan.
