Day 1 Highlights of NZ Fashion Week 2018

FASHION WEEK IS GO! Here are a few of my Day 1 Highlights of New Zealand Fashion Week 2018, held at Viaduct Events Centre Auckland from 27th to 31st August. You can follow on my Instagram at @threadnz.

Monday 27th August 2018

First up, I headed into Newmarket to Pony Professionnel to have a blow wave to prepare for the busy week ahead. There’s nothing like starting off the week with a trip to Pony to make a girl feel like a million bucks. Fashion Week, lemme at you.

The incredible Salasai label held an amazing degustation presentation today, with four courses matched to the outfits on models. Salasai also showcased the new plates by Salasai Home. Food was especially created by Sarah Henderson of @thesaa.rahproject. Great production by Showroom 22 and Sarah Jane Hough and hair by Redken.

Turet Knuefermann and I at NZ Fashion Week opening party before her Mercedes-Benz Presents designer show. I’m also wearing @knuefermann red dress and shoes. Such a fabulously sexy yet elegant show by Turet, with sleek, stilettoed models walking around the Mercedes-Benz SL230 parked on catwalk in the big Tent at New Zealand Fashion Week. A great start to the week!

Opening Night Party

Guests entered the ground floor of the Viaduct Event Centre past a parked Mercedes and enjoyed glasses of Prosecco as the Mayor of Auckland welcomed the crowd. The loveliest footwear designer ever, Kathryn Wilson, formally opened fashion week with a speech acknowledging many of those – both peers and legends – in the fashion industry, as well as Dame Pieter Stewart, who dropped the big news that fashion week will need to find a new venue next year as the America’s Cup yachts will take over the viaduct space.
