"Well the spring rain is here, which means summer is soon to make a definite comeback. Though autumn was a bit lame, winter actually turned out to be pretty fantastic with sunshine and plenty of snow coinciding with epic weekends to the mountain. There has also has been lots of decent musical releases over the last wee while. Here are ten of my favourite tracks from the last few months (in no order other than alphabetical) with links to each on Youtube to watch.

Hope Springs Eternal – Top Ten Mid-Year Songs: A Pre-Summer Playlist

Bon Iver’s new record is a 2011 list-topper for sure. Holocene is so good it could make you faint. The accompanying video is just stunning.

Auckland’s finest Cut Off Your Hands are back with a solid new album. Here is the first single from ‘Hollow’.

David Dallas’s new (and free) album ‘Rose Tint’ is absolutely awesome. And so is the host of Special Problems-produced music videos that have flown out with it. So fresh. (Photo Megan Robinson)

Fleet Foxes are back with more of their wintry forest folk. They will also be here in January. Tickets out soon!

Frank Ocean is the hottest new thing in RnB. He releases his amazing mixtape, Nostalgia/Ultra earlier this year, and next minute, he’s opening Kanye West and Jay-Z’s recently-dropped album!

Bit of a heartbreaker this one. But life is like that sometimes. This is a truly great song. It also features our very own (and very talented) Kimbra Johnson. (Photo Kevin Robinson)

Anything with Beyonce in it is probably going to be good. This is no exception. Watch the Throne is a definite must listen from the self-proclaimed kings of hip hop.

Speaking of Kimbra, her new album Vows is out and I am in love with it. A talented artist, and a total babe. Get the record.

Washed Out is an artist that screams summer. A golden glow accompanies everything he releases. Check it out.

A recent find! Wu Lyf are mysterious and fantastic. They won’t be everybody’s cup of tea, but will definitely be on my surf-trip playlist this summer."
