Roll up, roll up, señores and señoritas, the greatest show on earth comes to Auckland!
An international roll call of the best in Spanish and Latin American contemporary cinema is set to unspool for the first time in New Zealand, at the Spanish Film Festival.
This spectacular cinematic travelling circus of 15 films is making its inaugural mark in Auckland this May 2011.
The New Zealand premiere of award-winning Biutiful is set to screen centre-stage for opening night of the festival.
Nominated for two Academy Awards® (Best Actor, Javier Bardem and Best Foreign Language Film) and winner at the 2010 Cannes Film Festival (Best Actor, Javier Bardem), Biutiful is the latest masterpiece from Alejandro González Iñárritu (Babel, Amores Perros, 21 Grams).
A redemptive and powerful tale of love, Biutiful is spearheaded by an emotionally charged performance by award-winning actor Javier Bardem (No Country for Old Men, Vicky Cristina Barcelona).
The festival will feature films that come from Chile, Venezuela and Spain, making the event a truly international and world class celebrating of cinema in the second most widely spoken language on earth.
The Spanish Film Festival 2011 will be held exclusively at Rialto Newmarket.
