A little honey in Napier

Milk and Honey opened in 2008 and is set just off the beaten track – off the road from the Port of Napier. Located in the Crown Hotel, Milk and Honey serves seriously good coffee (and bacon)…

On a recent road trip to the Hawkes Bay we dined at Milk and Honey in Napier. The experience has to be one of the most enjoyable I have had in terms of service, food, wine selection and ambience.

Milk and Honey opened in 2008 and is set just off the beaten track – off the road from the Port of Napier. Located in the Crown Hotel, Milk and Honey serves seriously good coffee (and bacon) in the very early hours through to late evening (my favourite – the affogato, pictured left).

Loving the interiors (Clarkson Architects were recognised by New Zealand Institute of Architects with an Interior Architecture award in 2009 for the design and detail), the bar layout and kitchen is set up so diners are a part of the interplay with the kitchen and service area on display.

What did we love?
Reasonable prices for lamb and fish
The ‘build you own’ menu when you want to choose the veges you like to eat
Award winning pizza – simple combinations with top flavour
Selection of NZ wines and after dinner treats
