American Express Auckland Restaurant Month launched tonight with an entertaining multimedia event put on by Big Little City inside the Aotea Centre.

Guests watched hilarious short films starring each chef, including takes on The Life Aquatic for the crayfish course shot inside Kelly Tarlton’s shark tank, and a Blair Witch Project-style movie hunting ducks in the bush! Very well done and it got lots of laughs.

Next up, we dined on delicious courses by each, including beef tataki by Nick Honeyman of Everybody’s Izakaya, leek soup with crayfish by Alex Strobach of O’Connell Street Bistro (pictured left), Duck breast and pie by Mark Southon of The Foodstore, and Milse Gelato Sticks by Brian Campbell of Milse.

Each of the four courses was wine-matched with Villa Maria and Nautilus Estate wines, with soft drinks from San Pellegrino and meat by Silver Fern Farms.

The public can eat at over 120 restaurants this August 2013 and buy tickets to special events from www.iticket.co.nz. See details at www.biglittlecity.co.nz/auckland-restaurant-month
