Chelsea Winter cooks at Pitango

They say never trust a skinny cook, but I totally trust Chelsea Winter.

The winner of Masterchef New Zealand reality cooking show could also basically be a model and is super nice to boot. I had to stand on tippee toes to get close to her shoulder and I don’t know what she does with all that butter and cheese she swears she eats.

Chelsea was cooking up a storm today at the media launch of the healthy soup company Pitango’s foray into wee tubs for one. She zhuzhed them up with garnishes, and then media got to have a go at cooking our own finishing touches for the soups, on the cooking stations at Main Course venue in Beaumont Street Auckland.

She also added cheese and pan fried sage leaves to the risotto, to “add a nice crunch to the dish.” She added coriander and chili to the pumpkin soup with a dash of Thai flavours with a squeeze of lime and fish sauce, and toasted cumin seeds and fried shallots.
