The team behind Miss Clawdy celebrated their opening on North Wharf with a live Bluegrass banjo band and tables heaving with the finest New Orleans food on Thursday 15th August.
Restauranteur family the Wiley boys, consisting of brothers Jeff and Tom and father Dennis Wiley have already had success in major Auckland establishments Sausalito (where I once worked!), Mink, Hammerheads, and Squid Row.
The fun and casual dining approach with a strong theme is apparent in Miss Clawdy. National culture eateries are so hot right now (see Japanese, and Mexican, everywhere) but we don’t really do American well in New Zealand. The Southern belle Miss Clawdy, named for the song, has New Orleans-style dishes such as fried chicken, jambalaya, and my favourite of all, Key Lime Pie.
Head along to North Wharf on Auckland’s Wynyard Quarter to 12 Jellicoe Street for a bite of the South!
Below: jambalaya with shrimp, andouille, sausage, and chicken, with a crayfish bourbon butter.
