CATCHUP DINNER WITH JULS AT OZONE
It’s hard for two working mamas to steal a night out! We were amazed to
see this very new destination vibrantly busy – hasn’t taken the
neighbourhood long to catch on. The layout – a big rosily lit U around
an open kitchen – really draws you in.

Juls and I shared fermented hummus (#happygut), raw veg and flatbread
(vegan-friendly) for $10.50 – light and fresh yet filling, and promptly
served.

We enjoyed big bottles of complimentary water, still and sparking, and I
had a rose while Juls reluctantly chose a glass of the horrendously
named Fat & Sassy Chardonnay. All wines apart from Champagne Bollinger
are available by the glass.

We both ordered the catch of the day (terakihi) with tuatua, spiced
chickpea masala, burnt onions and anchovy mayo (gluten-intolerant
friendly), $32. It amounted to a flash fish curry and again what stood
out were fresh tastes and plentiful veg (no need for a
side)(#comehungryleavehappy).

From the first there was a gorgeous family feeling at Ozone, with a
group of kids safely playing outside the premises (“we’re not allowed to
leave the carpark”) – no doubt their parents were finishing peacefully
inside. A local, Juls says she’ll return with her partner and son and
their friends.
