David Hasselhoff created a buzz in NZ for a day with his appearance at Mount Maunganui on 6th January and at a VIP party later that night at Okahu, Mission Bay, serenading Kimberly Crossman with a Spanish love song.

The Hoff was in NZ for Streets new icecream, Splice, following on from a trip to Bondi Beach Australia. He flies out 7th Jan to London to take part in a pantomine production playing Hoff the Hook. He seemed already dressing in costume, for a 20s gangster flick in two-tone shoes and a pinstripe suit. He appeared to be wearing makeup but had let his hair go grey naturally, and was quite tan.

Kimberly Crossman, star of Shortland Street, MCd the media event in the evening and was a refreshingly natural burst of personality; she should do well on her upcoming recce to LA to test the waters over there for her career.

She interviewed Hoff about how he found NZ (said we were very genuine, and that he ate fish heads with his Maori director at the Mount) and his new years (he performed his song of hope in Berlin which has become their anthem of sorts commemorating the fall of the Berlin wall to an audience of 1 million) and his last trip to Auckland (he recorded a Spanish love song, which he sung looking deeply into Crossman’s eyes holding her hands. She struggled to keep from smiling.

Below: Hoff and the Splice Rescue Crew, nicknamed the Splice Girls, in the water at Mt Maunganui earlier in the day. It looks really cold. (Photo supplied.)

Below, Megan and The Hoff.

And the icecreams? Really nice, actually; just 61 calories and tasting of real strawberries. Would buy again.
