Thankfully, my ill-founded translation attempts didn’t fool anyone. Schwarzkopf Professional provides solutions for all manner of hairy (sic) problems. Being a blondie who now needs a little extra help, I have a particular penchant for anything that proposes the answer is in the bottle. Add a wild tangle of curls and you get the picture. Rescue operation, anyone?
To begin, let’s have a look at the BlondeMe range. There’s a plethora of options making decisions an almost excruciating process – what to use? The Blonde Brilliance Shampoo is one of the foundations, fighting that classically rotten- egg look (read yellow streaks) by way of an inbuilt toner. It works. Only shame is that it didn’t transform my re-growth into glittering highlights, but never mind.
It’s complemented by Illumi Lights Leave-in Conditioner (which smells quite nice, thank you), a Blonde Brilliance Intense Treatment (which smells even better), and a couple of mousse-style nourishing foams. Personally, my winning card would go to the Shampoo and the Intense Treatment – both delicious and effective, and sympathetic to my enthusiasm for minimalistic regimes.
This is where things get curly. The BC Bonacure hairtherapy Curl Bounce range takes a straight shooter approach to getting that frizz into respectable order. Again, civilized isn’t a title I’d tag to my crowning glory but with this stuff, well, it seems anything is possible. My only grizzles with the shampoo and conditioner is that the fragrance is fairly artificial; not surprising, perhaps, when all the technology behind keeping that “hair architecture” smooth as silk is taken into account. Then again, if it’s a fight between smelling like fake bananas or sporting spookily good looking hair, personally I know which one I’d punt for.
Speaking of good looks, this crowd is keen on keeping up appearances. The Osis+ collection includes Pump My Curls (great for defining unruly waves or, in my case, fluff), Style Shifters (a texturising spray), and finally, Dust It (a mattifying powder for hair) which gives a matte finish, light controlling, separation, texture and glow. This, I imagine, would be perfect for hair that had a tendency towards oilier confections.
So there you go. The results show that Schwarzkopf Professional is onto something hot – Very Black Head and all.
Scwarzkopf Professional is available exclusively from salons. Products begin at $28.
