Ex-pat New Zealander Snowden Hill re-created hairstyles he’s done on international fashion runways with Guido, here in Auckland at the first New Zealand hair expo, Hair X held at the Hilton on Queen’s Birthday Weekend.

Snowden, now London-based, was a real hit with the crowd with an easy charm and manner that belied how stellar he is in the hair industry and with whom he has worked.

He set up four chairs with a model and stylist on each and they showcased over fifteen looks from designer runway shows including Dolce & Gabbana, Alexander McQueen, Sonia Rykiel and more, from recent fashion weeks at Milan, NY, London and Paris.

Metal barettes – or hairclips as we say in New Zealand – form a sci-fi helmut on a model’s head. It is based upon a pony tail that is flipped upwards and clipped down. The front barettes are stuck on the forehead using hair glue.

Three runway looks, including Snowden Hill’s god-daughter on the left ("She’s all grown up!") with a Sonia Rykiel hairstyle.

Make-up was by Samala Robinson Academy and clothes by Viva la Vintage store in Devonport Auckland.

Watching the show.
