When I was asked to review this shampoo and conditioner from Giovanni Eco Chic, I thought they even sounded interesting, as they use Chinese botanicals with wonderful names like ‘Wu Huan Zi’ and ‘Hei Zhi Ma.’

The other great thing about this wellness system is that it is scalp and follicle focused. I have a super sensitive scalp and even one day deviating from the ginger shampoo I usually use can be problematic.

I had run out the week prior and had spent an unfortunate week using up the last squeeze from random conditioner bottles in my cupboard, so my scalp and hair were in a very sad way.

Below: Giovanni Wellness System Step 1 Shampoo with Chinese Botanicals and Giovanni Wellness System Step 2 Conditioner with Chinese Botanicals RRP $22.50 each.

I tried the shampoo and conditioner together the first few days and then the conditioner with my regular shampoo, and I was very happy with the results. I thankfully had immediate relief from my itchy scalp, and my hair looked so much better.

There is a gloriously mintiness to them which is very restorative and calming to the skin and they felt rich and luxurious. I have to warn you that they are alarmingly brown, but they are so good that that won’t bother you for long. They are sulphate and paraben free, so no nasty estrogen mimicking and unnecessary chemicals here. I have experienced dried out hair from other chemical free products, but these ones were absolutely fine. My hair was easy to brush and looked healthy and shiny.

It is great to have found these products as they are less expensive than my current shampoo and conditioner and are nicer to use.

They must be authentic too, as they smelt reminiscent of my Chinese Grandma’s bathroom, which is highly nostalgic. She was a total glamour puss too, so I am sure she would have approved.
