When it comes to hair it’s all or nothing for me. ‘Drowned rat’ perfectly describes my look with un-styled hair.
Luckily my hair is very obedient and responds well to being styled and fifteen minutes with a hair dryer usually delivers the look I’m after. I’m the sort of person who grills their hair dresser for blow drying tips to obtain the salon finish look from home.
However if I don’t have the fifteen minutes needed to create my look I will resort to my winter super-sized beanie or the summer equivalent – my Fedora – hence the all or nothing comment. I can count on one hand the number of times I have left the house without either blow drying my hair or wearing a hat since my early twenties.
I would imagine that most people buy hair products to suit their need, but it had never occurred to me that my blow drying obsession had produced a need for damage therapy. If asked what my primary hair care need was in the past I would have said ‘volume’ which explains the hair drying and the fact that I have never adopted the more popular hair straighteners. But my hair drying has produced unwanted flyaway and damaged ends.
For the past three weeks I have been using Sebastian Professional Penetraitt Shampoo, Conditioner and Masque.
The active rescue system in Penetraitt combines protein and moisture to recondition the hair. This has resulted in a significant reduction in the flyaway halo that blow drying had produced.
My hair has retained the volume I work so hard for and at the same time the overall health and vibrant colour of my hair has been dramatically intensified. Substituting the Masque in place of the conditioner every third wash is already undoing the damage that my chemically and heat treated hair has sustained.
However I find that my hair is just that little bit less obedient on those days, but not to worry, there’s always the Fedora for those days – provided the sun makes enough of an effort to make wearing a hat not seem quite so outlandish.
For that little bit of extra hair care, Sebastian Professional Halo Mist provides UV protection with maximum shine. I’ve used the Halo Mist both before blow drying for a more subtle sparkling finish and on dry hair for maximum shine. It’s nice to know I’m protecting my hair as well as achieving a glossy finish to all that hard work with the dryer.
The Sebastian Professional Stress Free Shine Pack: with Penetraitt Shampoo and Conditioner plus Penetraitt Masque retails for $78 and the Halo Mist for $40 from selected salons nationally. See www.sebastianprofessional.com for stockists.
