For the first time HITO, Kitomba and the New Zealand Association of Registered Hairdressers are teaming up to bring the ultimate in hairdressing awards, competitions and seminars to New Zealand.
The Awards, being held in Christchurch Convention Centre on the 16th October 2010, are a celebration of practical skills, business success, and training excellence. If you’re in the hair and beauty industry, then you simply must be there.
Teams from 14 regions will put their skill and creative ability to the test when they compete for the Supreme Fashion Hair Design Awards. The talented winners of the regional competitions face the challenge of competing in the Supreme Hair Design Awards – undoubtedly the most prestigious event on the NZ Association of Registered Hairdressers calendar.
“For the winners, the glitz and glamour of the Awards dinner is an opportunity to be recognised as the crème de la crème of New Zealand hairdressers” says Tanya Patene, NZARH competition committee chairperson.

Created to foster, encourage and celebrate business excellence, the Kitomba National Hairdressing Business Awards have become one of New Zealand’s premier hairdressing events – with even more sponsors, awards and categories in 2010 than ever before. The Business Awards include the Business Salon of the Year, Schwarzkopf Business Stylist of the Year, and L’Oreal Salon Entrepreneur.
The HITO Annual Awards showcase up and coming hairdressing talent. The prestigious Apprentice of the Year Award is always hotly contested, and propels the winner into the hairdressing limelight. Last year’s winner Ria Wikio says the Award has had a huge impact on her career. “It’s been a great way to get my name out there and build a really great client base. As well as being great for me, it’s been awesome for the salon too”.
At the Awards HITO will also be announcing the National Winner of the WorldSkills competition that will be taking place in the days leading up to the combined Awards. The winner will represent New Zealand at the International WorldSkills even in London next year. Hairdressing is one of 40 industries that will compete at the London event, and, this will be the first time in a long time that New Zealand has had a hairdresser represent.
The awards, competitions and gala dinners will bring together the best in hairdressing talent from across New Zealand.
