Can beauty save the world? Davines thinks so. They want people to take care of themselves, of the environment and of the things they love.

Davines is a salon-only high-end haircare brand created in Parma, Italy by the Bollati family in 1983 with a philosophy of using the most sustainable ingredients, processes and packaging possible.

Davines recently launched a Zero Environmental Impact Salon campaign at a cost of 180 Euros per stylist to neutralise each stylist’s carbon emissions, invested into reforestation projects.

Four years ago Davines’ Essential Haircare line became carbon neutral, contributing to protection and reforestation of nature reserves in Italy and Costa Rica. The line uses 100% low density plastic so they only use the minimum amount of plastic required, using glass containers – which are 100% recyclable – for the Alchemic and Glorifying lines, using only promary packaging cutting out cardboard cartons wherever possible, or using compostable cardboard.

And how about what’s inside?

Davines favours ingredients that are of natural origin, organic or eco-certified, made from renewable sources, eco-sustainable and not of petro-chemical origin. They are sold according to Fair Trade principles and not tested on animals. And what’s more, they are able to guarantee full traceability of the finished product.
