Have you wondered how to do the Milkmaid braid or Heidi plait seen on Valentino catwalks?
Here’s Thread.co.nz’s latest hair tutorial to show you how to easily create the plait yourself, from lovely Christchurch fashion blogger Jo Fletcher of blog www.lostinthehaze.com
Below: Jo’s hair when unplaited.
Mulberry had the beehive, TopShop Unique had gold foil, and House of Holland was all about being slicked back. There is no denying it; 2012 is all about the hair.
Catwalk trends are making their way onto the New Zealand shore, and now is the time to learn. One of the most prominent styles for me was the Valentino braid.
It is an hairstyle which needs two people to be done both quickly and easily. I tried bribing my boyfriend, but unfortunately he wasn’t so keen! But fret not, braids are still achievable.
The Milkmaid braid (also know as the Heidi) can be performed in mere minutes, and is on-trend this season. Here is a step-by-step tutorial on how to achieve the perfect Valentino-esque braid…
Step one:
Divide your hair into two bunches, and braid it quite tightly.
Step two:
Bring one braid over your head and use bobby pins to secure it in place.
Step three:
Bring the other braid over your head and secure it with bobby pins. Hide the end underneath the other braid.
Step four:
Tidy up your Heidi braid by pinning any flyaways.
And voila – the perfect Valentino-esque braid.
