I had a go with the fabulously-titled Perfect Curls today. I do have naturally wavy hair and wanted to give the curls more definition and volume.

It’s unlike anything I’ve used before; instead of a plain ceramic shaft, it is covered by a twisted channel that is cool to the touch which houses your hair next to the hot ceramic centre. The end is also cool so you can hold the end while twisting.

After doing it upside down by mistake, I carefully read the instructions. Ah. That made sense now; you clip the end of your hair in the clip and wind it up then hold it for ten seconds (I did longer) and unclip then release.

I think the key is to do sections of medium thickness – too small and the curls were very tight, and too big and they wouldn’t fit in the channels properly – and to finish a few inches below the parting so you get a straight fall before the curls begin.

I used a hair heat protection spray (I used Redken 03 but also have ghd Heat Protect Spray) and finished with Moroccanoil Luminous Hairspray.

The finished result: big and bouncy curls.

Remington Perfect Curls retails for around $80 at electronic stores and comes with a two year warranty.
