O&M have released healthy, natural hair colours that are gentle yet effective. I check out their clear glossing colour, from Australian haircare brand, Original Mineral.

I met Emma, national hair trainer at Stephen Marr salons (stephenmarr.co.nz) and an expert in O&M colour, at The Department Store in Takapuna Auckland. Emma has been using the new O&M colours for some while now having swapped the salons over from their previous colour, Wella. She says they are more natural and subtle. The colours do take longer to process as they develop cold rather than under the heat lamps which force the colour into the cuticle using heat.

O&M has removed the harsh chemicals found in mainstream haircolour to achieve the holy grail of permanent haircolour: it is free of ammonia (irritating and odorous chemical that swells the hair cuticle to enable colour penetration), PPD (which many people are allergic to and can cause dermatitis and reddening), and Resorcinol (a toxic chemical). It does this with a formulation called Mineral CCT. It uses micro colour pigment molecules with micronized mineral and natural ingredients to get great results with 99 shades and 100% grey coverage.

As well as colours, you can choose to have a clear applied – which takes about 30 minutes instead of 40 to process – and adds a beautiful lustre and shine to the hair. My hair came out looking lovely and glossy. It also contains macadamia oils for shine.
