Instant Rockstar
Hard Rock and Soft Rock
Matte Rock – reviewed by Brent.
"I’ve been using the same product for several years as, after trying many others over a period of time I’d only found one that could control my untameable hair and give me the look I wanted. So naturally when my wife gave me Instant Rockstar Matte Rock Strong Hold Style Putty, I was a little sceptical to say the least. However, on my first date with Instant Rockstar, I was pleasantly surprised. By the time I got home I was expecting my hair to be doing its own thing and resemble a kind of souffle, however it was looking the same as when I left for work that morning.
Matte Rock is quite firm and I found it a bit difficult to get the small amount required onto your hand. After rubbing between your hands to warm, it can be applied to towel dry hair and styled. When dry, Matte Rock does not set like gel, so your hair is still malleable and soft to touch, but holds your hair exactly the way you want. The finish is matte and dry, and totally free from grease and shine. And if restyling half way through the day is your thing, it can be done – I discovered this after my 4 yr old son decided to have a go crafting his own hair style for me. So after about 8 yrs of the same thing, my allegiance has shifted to Instant Rockstar."
Beach Rock ($21.95) Reviewed by Mark.
"A great pick me up for your hair. Goes in with a quick spray and a hand through your hair – and you appear to be ready to go! I realise that men don’t like fuss, but this is ridiculously easy. We test drove Beach Rock salt spray on all the men in the house (old and young) and it worked like a treat! My wife also tried it on her long curly hair and loved the result. It separated, and helped the curl be more defined, with that slightly ‘just stepped out of the sea and my hair has dried on the beach’ sort of relaxed look. I have very fine hair and it didn’t overwhelm it at all. All the males in the house loved its easy application, beach-y coconut smell (though we did wonder about the appropriateness of this in a business office). One thing we did especially like, is that unlike other ‘saltwater sprays’, it doesn’t leave your hair feeling dried and clumped with product… excellent!"
Classic Rock ($22.95) Reviewed by Kevin.
Classic rock had a good texture; firm at first but softens nicely with the warmth of your hands. It goes onto hair evenly and easily and doesn’t leave any ‘bits’! It smells pleasant, a bit watermelon-ish.
My biggest problem with hair products is sometimes they’re too glossy so this matte look is nice."
