I do love colouring my hair. Not that I’m saying nature does a bad job, but in handing me the mousey-brown card it is open to being improved upon, methinks.
But this meddling comes with a price: hair damage.
So, I had a NaturalTech treatment to try to rectify some of the damage that hair colour does, and repair the general dryness that my hair suffers from.
I headed into D&M salon in Ponsonby and met stylist Lisa and Davines’ Ryland Wood to find out what they recommend.
First up, my hair was diagnosed. I have a great scalp, I am happy to hear. See, even if you’re having a bad day, and nothing’s going your way, one part of your body is always perfect. My scalp is just dandy. However, there was general consensus and head shaking about the dryness of my hair.
There are seven ranges in the NaturalTech range from haircare brand Davines, and I am deemed to need nourishment so the Nourishing range is prescribed. It is aimed at dry and brittle damaged hair with a formula containing phytoceuticals extracted from grapes, full of antioxidants. It has a fragrance of mandarin, petit grain and ylang ylang essential oils.
Next, I cleanse my hands with a flannel bearing essential oils, which is followed by a divine head massage also with the essential oils, and a neck and shoulder massage. Lisa says she can feel all the computer use in my right back muscles.
My prescription is mixed up and I go under a heat lamp for ten minutes and I am washed off for a second time, before the final treatment is applied.
Michael, co-owner of D&M – in fact he’s the M of its title – finishes my style.
Lisa (D&M stylist) with Ryland Wood (Davines).
I take home my customised recipe. Twice weekly I am to use the Nourishing Shampoo and Vegetarian Miracle Conditioner and Living Enzyme Injusion. Then, once a week I am to use a Nourishing Hair Building Pak and Royal Jelly Superactive. All the NaturalTech products are available from the D&M reception and selected Davines stockists nationwide.
The finished result – soft, silky and nourished hair. I love it!
