Rebecca admits she’s pretty lazy with her hair and in need of a change, so she has a makeover at Kensington Hairdressing in one of Wella Professional’s hair trend predictions for Winter 2012 called ‘Blaze’, the femme fatale…
To be honest, I’d have to say that I am pretty lazy with my hair. My normal routine would be to shove my hair in a bundle and carry on with the day, let alone have any nice colour in it. So today was a real treat – I had a Wella Winter Hair Trend makeover at Kensington Hairdressing in Remuera, Auckland.
One of Wella Professional’s hair trend predictions for Winter 2012 is Blaze, the femme fatale. "She wears her hair short, sharp cut and bold, contrasting colours with a sparkle in her eyes that shows a willful sense of irony. Blaze has been created with a strong Latin influence, is overtly sensual and naturally confident" it read. I had high expectations.
To make my drab old look become the striking femme fatale took two incredibly talented people, the close-knit team of Terri Whaitiri and Gaynor Arbuckle. They enjoyed working together, researching, conceptualising and creating their unique interpretation of Blaze. The craftsmanship of Terri (all round creative marvel) and Gaynor (soon to be graduating as a master colour expert) was inspiring, as I watched them create the intricate details in the layers of colour in my hair it made me appreciate their art even more.
I now have a creative look with commercial appeal which means the colour and cut is striking, but I don’t feel like I’m someone else.
While waiting for my consultation I overheard a client talking about her last haircut, I was impressed to hear the stylist asking her questions without any hint of hurt pride (lets face it, something creatives are prone to) and constructively discuss solutions with her. I always find it hard to do that and I think a salon that encourages honest and open communication creates the ultimate experience for their clients.
I’m loving my new cut and colour and every person I saw this afternoon and tonight has loved it too. I can’t wait for a sunny day to show off how gorgeous the colours are.
Thank you so much Kensington and Wella, I can’t wait to come back.
Before…
…and after.
