Short film is the medium du jour and it is perfectly suited for showcasing the creativity of a hair salon – adding movement and sound to the still imagery of a photo shoot.

D&M Hair Design has released its first-ever short film, entitled ‘Grace,’ by young local film-maker Ralph Matthews.

The black and white video is follows the current visual campaign – also named for Grace Owen, a model at 62 Models and a close friend of the salon – in thirteen different looks. The looks, drawing from the worlds of pop culture and fashion, were able to be created using wigs and masks. The photographic collection could be shot in a single day as the wigs were pre-styled and could come on and off Grace on the day.

Art Director and co-owner of D&M Salon, Danny Pato, says "using masks to transform identity" was his inspiration.

Art Heist and DJ iWan created the original music for the film, with makeup by M.A.C’s Amber D.
