So we all know that summer is being a little naughty and hiding from us at the moment, but as a typical Kiwi I’m not losing faith that it’s coming. So, in preparation, here are my favourite summer loves, to kick-start the year with. Enjoy.
1. Sunblock ladies. I know you see it preached everywhere you look these days but that’s because we know what we’re talking about. Sunblock prevents fine lines, pigmentation and the big C.
My favourite is Neutrogena Advanced Sunscreen SPF 100 +. The sun won’t dare go near you with this lil beauty. The claims: Ultra light, clean feel, non-greasy, leaves skin soft and smooth, waterproof, sweatproof, resists rub-off, light fresh scent, oil free and PABA free. The results: All of the above! I use this daily after my moisturiser and I feel so safe without the heaviness. This is a must try ladies, oh – and men, too.
2. Essie nail polish. I like to arm myself with Cocktail Bling. The colours are soft yet somehow striking.
I’m personally in love with Bangle Jangle, a soft lavender colour, perfect for those summer BBQs with fingers delicately wrapped around a glass of vino. Check them out at essie.com
3. Wrinkle-hiding tanner. Finally, a two-in-one product that gives a natural glow and fills fine lines: my ultimate dream product. Clarins Instant Smooth Self Tanning slides on over moisturizer, and there’s no need to use foundation – perfect for a light summer glow day to day.
4. Skin luminizers. They add radiance to your complexion and that extra added ‘pop’ to those glorious summer days by topping your regular bronzer with a highlighting pink or peach blush. Contour your cheekbones using a matte bronzer then add some shimmer for a healthy glow. I’m in heart with the long-lasting powder options from Bobbi Brown (Shimmer Brick pictured above left) and Este?e Lauder (Bronze Goddess Soleil pictured above right). Soft reflections = Dreamy.
5. Dior Addict Lip Glow Color Reviver Balm. This angel has made it to a ‘keeper’ status in my books. Dior’s sensationally sheer lip balm responds to your lip colour chemistry to make a shade unique to you. Smooth it on to moisturize, add sun protection and enhance your own natural lip colour instead of hiding it.
