Smashbox has released a limited edition summer collection with nudes and brights to get you famous, called Shades of Fame.

I like that it has such a versatile range of colours for every occasion whether you want to play it safe or go all-out crazy-colourful.

It’s priced at just $73 for nine eyeshadows, two cream liners, and a double-ended brush, so it’s excellent value. That’s only six bucks per item; eyeshadows are usually $36 for a single full size. This way you can have a bit of a play with a variety of shades and if you use one up – usually the base shade for most women runs out first – you’ll know what to pick up from Smashbox.

It comes with a eyelid primer mini and a two-ended brush for blending and fine lining. The box also has a QR code to scan and watch how-to videos on your smartphone. Clever.

Here’s the eye make-up I did only using the brushes provided. It is eyelid base of Honey, with Praline in the crease, and Nude on brows.

The newest addition to Smashbox is the Limitless 15 Hour Wear Cream Shadow, which retail at $38 each. The pots of cream shadow are humidity resistant and don’t rub off. They come in twelve shades including a good range of metallics that are so big right now.

The Shades of Fame compact – with its ‘Get The Look’ booklet of ideas, and Limitless eye shadows, are available from selected Life Pharmacies, beauty spas, and the Smashbox concept store on Ponsonby Road. See www.smashboxcosmetics.co.nz for stockists.
