Dr.Hauschka has launched a beautiful limited edition collection of colour and makeup brushes for Autumn 2013, called ‘Dear Eyes’.

The German brand of NATRUE/BDIH certified natural and organic makeup and skincare is known for its quality and botanical ingredients – not for its fast fashion – so this collection is true to form in that it has pieces that you will want to buy, and keep, and keep. You will wear this with everything as they go with everything; not for Dr.Hauschka the flashy trends in colours such as neon yellow and pink! We have here an eyeshadow trio in beige, rose and chocolate – for lid, contour and highlighting the eye – that has extracts of medicinal plants kidney vetch, witch hazel and black tea.

The hero for me in the Dear Eyes collection is the Dr.Hauschka makeup brushes, pictured below. Also, what eye would be complete without lashings of lashes? A great mascara is worth its weight in gold and this classic black and gold-packaged mascara in black adds volume to emphasize lashes. Define your eye with the Kajal Eyeliner in black, which contains marula oil to protect the skin of the eye area.

For tips from makeup artist Karim Sattar on how to transform your daytime makeup look into a night look, see this eye makeup tutorial on Youtube, and here for more information and the photoshoot video.

The Eyeshadow Trio is $69, Kajal Eyeliner $41, Volume Mascara Black $49, Eyeshadow Blender Brush big $49, Eye Definer Brush small $49. For stockists in New Zealand see www.drhauschka.co.nz

Additional Dear Eyes Tips from Dr.Hauschka New Zealand Make-up Artist, Cheryl:

1) To achieve a professional eye make-up, you simply must use good brushes. Look after them and they will last years.

2) Use a magnified mirror when applying eye make-up, ensuring you’re looking down into it, so you can see your eye contour as you apply.

3) There’s a natural valley/shadow close to your nose, so keep it light there. Use the Rose colour over entire lid.

4) Highlight brows with Cream, even pop a little in the inner corner of the eye, to make your eyes ‘pop’.

5) Always, always apply matte Chocolate, your contour colour, from the outer eye, inwards, around 2/3rds. We have a tendency to apply in the opposite direction which leaves too much shadow at the outer eye contour, ‘dragging’ the eye downwards. This is particularly important as we get older.

6) The look is for soft lines this season, apply your Kajal Black Eyepencil, then smudge it out, then ‘set’ with matte chocolate colour using the Eye Definer Brush.

7) When applying Volume Mascara do so looking downwards into your magnifying mirror and if you can close the eye you’re working on. Apply Mascara right from the base of eyelashes and zig zag upwards.
