For the frugal fashionista they suggested to use what you already have in your wardrobe an accessorise it to create a “new” outfit, says Kirsty MacDonald at the Revlon fashion and beauty event held in Dunedin last week…
Kirsty MacDonald went along to the Revlon fashion and beauty event in Dunedin as part of 30 Days of Fashion and Beauty, held on 3rd September…
I recently attended "Woman’s Day Fashion & Beauty Essentials" at Farmers Dunedin. Guests were seated then treated to goody bags filled with fashion and beauty items and a Woman’s Day magazine to peruse at their leisure.
Editor Sarah Henry welcomed all and explained the first half of the show was all about fashion trends this season followed by beauty tips in the second half. Fashion Editor Shona McKechnie introduced herself then she and Sarah told us about the hot new trends for 2010. Florals are in and we were shown how best to wear them.
For the frugal fashionista they suggested to use what you already have in your wardrobe an accessorise it to create a “new” outfit. Colours this season include ballet pink, peach and nude. I noticed the new Revlon Nail Polish range included these exciting shades.
We learned the importance of a graduated hemline to flatter the lower half of the body instead of the popular top that stops at your waist. I know I will be experimenting with this hemline to make me look slimmer and taller.
Shona and Sarah recommended a capsule collection of must-have wardrobe basics. They are: skinny jeans or trousers worn with a top to the knees, a pencil skirt, a long white shirt and a little black dress. All these items can be accessorized to change their look, dressed up for night or down for day time.
Part two was the beauty section of the show. Beauty Editor Amy Houlihan showed us the products Revlon has to offer us this season. My friend Emma (intro image above) got a full makeover by the talented and gorgeous Aliana McDaniel and was thrilled with the result. It was dramatic and extremely transforming.
Thank you ladies for brightening an otherwise dull Friday lunch time. I am off to try out my new fashion and beauty tips and tricks right now.
