Great Xperience

In these still tight post recession times, we could all use some beauty products that punch above their weight, giving us more bang for our buck. Let’s face it – we all expect that the more we pay for a product, the better it will be…

Enter the Xperience range of cosmetics by Maxfactor – they truly give you the experience we would expect from a high end product at a drugstore price.

The aim of this line was to create a collection of luxurious makeup products which would deliver the truly beautiful poised look that all women want but with a lightness of feel.

My all time favourite in this range is the Xperience Weightless Foundation – I love it! In fact I love it so much that I will be using this now instead of my much more expensive foundation. This is no mean feat as I am very particular about my foundation – it would take a lot for me to consider changing.

Cliché I know, but it really does glide on and feel weightless. It has a really soft silky feel to it – not at all sticky or heavy. It looks slightly matte, with a subtle dewiness. Infused with jojoba, rosehip and cucumber water instead of heavier synthetic ingredients delivering real benefits. The added bonus of SPF 10 and I have found a keeper.

The last product we tried in the Xperience range is the Sheer Glossbalm with mango and shea butters. Available in 6 shades, its sheerer than a lipstick, but less shiny than a traditional gloss. I think it strikes a happy medium between a gloss and lipstick, and is good when you want a little more longlasting colour than a gloss. Feels great on – like a moisturising balm, and smells lovely too.

We also tried Maxfactor Smoky Eye Effects and Kohl Eyeliner Pencil ($23.50). Smoky Eye Effects is a two ended pencil designed to make achieving smoky eyes easy. The first end is to be applied over the whole lid, followed by the other end with a darker colour to be applied on the lower lid and creases.

I always find layering eyeshadow a bit tricky and I always seem to miss the mark, so I loved this product. It made smoky eyes much more achievable and I spend so much less time infront of the mirror trying to perfect the look. A friend borrowed mine and went straight out to get her own! This has the texture of a cream shadow, add a bit of the Kohl Eyeliner pencil after for gorgeous evening eyes.

I can honestly say I really loved this range, and will continue to use the products. Although these are great for anyone on a budget, I would recommend everyone looking to update their make-up bag give these a shot – you will definitely get more than what you pay for.
