Local 4-piece girl band Ivy Lies are becoming the ‘Eyes of Maybelline New York’ for the summer of 2010/11.

The musicians modelled the new looks Volum’ Express The Falsies’ Mascara, Eye Studio Lasting Drama Gel Liner, and the latest Colour Sensational Pearls Lipsticks and Crème Gloss, at a cocktail launch held at Newmarket’s Sugar Bar on Wednesday 8th December.

Ivy Lies lead singer Emla says the band has had a massive year, completing the recording of their debut album in Los Angeles (to be released early March 2011), knocking out three music videos and confirming their upcoming tour schedule with chart topper Dane Rumble.

Originally from Christchurch, the band was formed by Lisa, Emla and Rosie under the name ‘Starlett’ while the girls were still at school. The band soon caught the attention of SonyBMG, who signed them to a development deal when they were just 17 years old. The band moved to Auckland in 2008 to hit the live circuit and integrate themselves into the local music scene. They now have a distribution agreement with Warner Music via their label, Let The People Speak.

We got a sneak preview of the Maybelline New York products that will be hitting shelves in mid-January 2011.
