Long distance runner

Natural. Flawless. Glowing. Model-like even. I’ll take anything but the shiny disco ball I end up with by morning teatime.

It could be referred to as the Beauty Holy Grail.

Finding a foundation that lasts the distance is something that cosmetic companies promise year in and year with glossy airbrushed allure. It started with longwear lipstick and lipgloss, now the time-poor want to spend less time on applying make-up and have no time for touch-ups during the day.

To this end, I tried the new Revlon Whipped Crème makeup, a new addition to the ColorStay range, priced at $38.95, and on counter now.

The packaging is going for a Chanel-esque quality in a sleek glass jar. My first thought was – "looks classy", followed by my second thought; "it will be too heavy in my handbag." But, hang on – if your foundation is going to claim to last 24 hours, why would you need it to be portable?!

The texture was slightly less fluffy than I had anticipated for a ‘whipped’ product, but it was creamy and light. I applied ‘Natural Beige’ with a foundation brush, and found the coverage was amazing and just matte enough for me. It did last throughout my workday; I didn’t want to test the 24-hour claim. It could be a happy coincidence but since I started using this foundation, I haven’t had a breakout! I’d probably prefer this product in a more practical packaging but it does look stunning in my bathroom.
