The recently-renovated historic dockside building Shed 10 filled with well made-up young women last night, as M.A.C Cosmetics held Femme to Feline, a cosmetics workshop for the public as part of New Zealand Fashion Festival 2012.

The seminar was a unique chance to learn a day-to-night look from M.A.C Trainer, Ocea Ferber, over from Australia, along with M.A.C Trainer Samantha Howard.

The two Trainers imparted make-up wisdom to the masses, as they guided us step-by-step through the application process, including names of eyeshadows used, tips and techniques, and the all-important which brush to use.

Here are some of the top insider pro tips the Trainers gave us:

Tip 1: The softer the fibre brush, the less product it will pick up i.e. it’ll give a soft wash of colour.

Tip 2 Use concealer under eyes RATHER THAN foundation as the skin is much thinner there.

Tip 3 To really get mascara to the root of the lash, pull up the lid area as you apply your mascara.

Tip 4 Avoid dark fall-out when creating a smoky eye by using creme shadow rather than loose powder shadow.

Tip 5 Tilt your head back as you apply eyeliner so your eyes are ALMOST closed, but you can still SEE!

Tip 6 When you get mascara someplace bad, don’t take it off immediately. Let it DRY then flake it off with a cottonbud.

The goody bag was full of pro tips to take home to use, and a mascara and lipstick, as well as a $50 M.A.C. voucher.

There are two more MAC Seminars to come; Wednesday 29th February, and Saturday 3rd March 2012.

I can’t wait to try out the tips myself. Now, what shall I chose from the M.A.C shop?
