MAC Backstage: Trelise Cooper

If you asked me which show is most likely to do nose studs and lip piercings, the last name on my (unpierced) lips would be Trelise Cooper.

But it was exactly this that came to pass, proving you should never say never in fashion, only in Bond movies.

I went backstage at NZ Fashion Week 2013 to see key makeup artist Amber D of M.A.C at work.

Amber D admits that many people are probably surprised by this look, but that it’s not at all surprising when you know Trelise, as she’s got a real edgy side to her, apparently.

Below: the ‘hardware store,’ as I called it, of piercings and pliers.

Amber’s inspiration was “Soft vs. Tough” created with a soft skin and eye and strong lip and of course the heavy metal on board. Key products used to create the look included M.A.C Mineralize Moisture Foundation, M.A.C Groundwork Paint Pot worn on the eyes, and M.A.C Burgundy and Fuschia Lipmix worn on the lips. (Pictured below.)

Nails were textured and furry using M.A.C Nightfall Nail Lacquer as a base then dipped into velvet flocking (like fluff) by nail technician Leah Light.
