You are going to love the new Art Sticks, Gel eyeliners, and the CC Creams, coming soon at Bobbi Brown.
Thread headed into Britomart to hear what’s new from the talented makeup artist and educator Kai Vinson before he shot off to New York for the Fall collections at NY Fashion Week.
Kai presented the new season collection to media at a showcase instore with canapes by Ortolana as we watched him do a live make-over on stunning Britomart Bobbi Brown team member, Rachel, pictured left.
Katie Holmes is the face of the new – and rather bridal-esque – Nude Glow limited edition collection, instore 3 February 2014. The collection, like Goldilocks, has three of everything. There are three eye palettes, three sheer lip colours, three nail polishes, and three Brightening Finishing Powders.
The Eye Palettes ($110) are a quartet of one exisiting shade and three new shades grouped into Nude, Crystal, and Bronze colour stories.
Sheer Lip Color ($54) gives a wash of colour to lips and comes in sleek, silver bullet cases.
Kai said nailpolishes are the new lipglosses in that women update their look with a new colour on their nails, so every Bobbi Brown collections features a matching nailpolish now ($26).
Less ‘sparkly’ than the legendary Shimmer Bricks, the new limited edition Brightening Finishing Powders ($125) lightly set makeup and brighten the complexion.
For women who are never going to get into liquid eyeliner, they will be super happy to hear that Bobbi is bringing out a wind-up gel liner that doesn’t need sharpening, and gives a sharp gel line.
Thread’s pick of the new releases was the Art Sticks, below. These thick, sharpenable lipsticks that resemble Chubby Sticks in appearance, are a new formulation of a product they released over a decade ago that was ‘before its time’ according to Kai. Unlike Chubby Sticks which are glossy, Art Sticks are actually matte. They can be blended out for a lip tint, or used as a lip liner, or a lipstick, or even blended into cheeks as a blush. That’s what we call versatility.
Another exciting limited edition collection is this colab, below, with the fabulous L’Wren Scott, an American fashion designer who lives in England with partner Mick Jagger. She was inspired by amnesia pink roses that Bobbi Brown gave her after her fashion show, and created a colour line with her. The palette is completely wearable with a pop of violet you can use either as eyeliner as used in the catwalk show, or over the whole lid for a big bang of high impact colour.
