Dr.Hauschka have a natural make-up line with two steps- a neutral base and a bronzing fluid – that you can wear separately or mix together either in your palm first, or layer upon the face, for a nice and natural look.

I tried the Translucent Make-Up 01 Pale Sand ($54), a shade designed for cool skin tones who find they suit silver jewellery more so than gold. You could just apply this make-up without the bronzer if you wanted a neutral look but I found the bronzer gave it a lot of oomph and the embodiment of the term "healthy glow." I think one coat would be sufficient for younger skins but I used two coats for a heavier coverage.

Next I applied the Summer Impressions Bronzing Fluid ($54) which isn’t exactly shimmery but does give skin a glow; a luminosity. It includes Pomegranate extract to fortify the skin. Lastly, I used a powder brush to press in the Loose Translucent Powder ($57) which includes real Silk Powder. It gave a lovely matte finish.

You can save time by mixing the first two steps together in your palm and use your fingertips or a foundation brush to apply them, or, like me, make sure you’re completely happy with the make-up base before applying the bronzer. Note it isn’t a complete, heavy coverage, so you may still need concealor for blemishes.

Our tester, Liz, tried Translucent Make-Up 02 for warm skin tones and said she was really pleased with the feel, and the result.

"I used it this morning and it is very thin and silky and easy to apply. It came out of the tube very fast the first time and I got too much; ouch. The coverage is smooth and doesn’t feel tight and clingy on my face, as I don’t like the feel of a face "mask."

So, what I really liked about the Summer Impressions range was that it was natural, with no chemical nasties, and that I had did have lots of options, with wearing one or either or both of the make-up and bronzing fluid. I don’t usually bother with powder but I have been using this powder daily.

If you’re looking for a healthier make-up option, this is a natural choice.
