In the All Stars cycle of America’s Next Top Model, they’re assigned one word that enscapulates them. If I did that for Rihanna, ‘Rebel’ probably isn’t far off being her word, so it’s apt she named her second fragrance a Frenchy version of the word; Rebelle.
After Reb’l Fleur for women was launched last year, Rihanna asked fans online whether they considered themselves a ‘rebel’ or a ‘fleur.’ Overwhelmingly – and perhaps unsurprisingly if you consider her music and thus her target audience – they picked ‘rebel.’
So in 2012 in collaboration with Parlux Fragrances Rihanna launched her second fragrance for women called Rebelle, to be on counter in New Zealand from 30 April.
The scent Rebelle by Rihanna is said to bring to mind her Barbados heritage with the whirl of her present-day city life.
So, what’s the fragrance itself like? At the top, it has strawberries and purple plums with a burst of ginger. At the heart; tropical flavours of cacao absolute, vanilla orchid and heliotrope. At its base it has patchouli with coffee beans and creamy musk with amber.
Rebelle by Rihanna Eau de Parfum spray retails for $99 for 100ml, $79 for 50ml, $49 for 30ml and $40 for a 200ml body lotion.
Below: The bottle echoes a stiletto heel such as Rihanna herself loves to wear, wrapped in a crimson red ribbon. The box has an outer wrap featuring the ad campaign imagery of Rihanna, in a single chain necklace and her chest tattoo, sitting in a hessian chair – either topless or in a bikini perhaps relaxing on the beach. Either way, she’s a beautiful rebel.
One thing’s for sure; this is certain to climb the charts.
