Karen Walker launched the Topshop Make-up line in Auckland on Friday 5th November to media and winners of a Viva promotion.
The range is on a self-contained island on the top floor of The Department Store, between Stephen Marr salon and Topshop womenswear. Topman launched the previous day on the ground floor of the store, located at 10 Northcroft Street in Takapuna.
The range included lipsticks ($22.50), lip pencils, nailpolish ($15), cream eyeshadows, eyeshadow duos, blushers ($20), mascara – in black only, as Karen said she just doesn’t get the point of coloured mascara – and liquid eyeliner, lipglosses, lip gloss pots and eyepencils.
There is a skin highlighter in light and a dark shade that’s good for legs, Karen said, and a pressed powder ($25) but no foundation or skincare.
Her oft-used make-up artist, Stacy Leeghin, told guests how she created the beautiful look on model Derya.
Karen Walker announced that the cosmetics were, amazingly, available only in two locations worldwide outside of the Topshop stores and their website; at Colette in Paris and at The Department Store here in Takapuna, Auckland.
Karen’s nailpolish picks: the grey and the olive.
She said the packaging was incredible, the price was incredible and the quality was incredible, with all make-up made in Italy.
My nails painted in Smoke.

Thread’s favourite item was the sponge-tipped blusher that you dab on to cheeks and blend.
Topshop Make-up is available now, so shoppers can get the look from top to toe – from shoes, bags and clothes, right through to their faces. And then, whey not pop next door and get your hair done, too?
