Streetreach is hosting a Pamper Night on 29th July for 1500 women and their children to come and be showered with $70,000 of donated make up, food, gifts and more…
1500 women expected at the annual Streetreach Pamper Night, being held in Central Auckland.
For over 8 years the annual Streetreach Pamper Night has cared for, empowered and encouraged women from around Auckland. These women range from sex workers to those in Women’s Refuges, and sufferers of domestic violence. This year it will be held on Thursday 29th July at 7pm.
Streetreach is a confidential support service for those involved in prostitution. Weekly the team works with those in Auckland involved in the sex industry to provide support and exiting strategies for those in the industry.
Streetreach Manager and coordinator of the Pamper Night Debbie Baker states “ The Pamper Night is an incredible opportunity to show value and honour to many women who may not always feel valued by our society”.
Streetreach is an initiative of The Life Centre Trust, and has been working with those involved in prostitution for over six years. Streetreach hosts the Pamper Night which in 2009 saw over 1500 women and their children come and be showered with over $70,000 worth of donated make up, hair care products, food, gifts and much more. This year Streetreach expects approximately 1500 will be in attendance and over 400 children. The first Pamper Night six years ago had 45 women and 25 children in attendance, over the years it has grown phenomenally as word has spread, and every year more and more women come to be pampered.
The Pamper Night has experienced great support from New Zealand businesses and members of the community who have made this night possible.
“This year there are going to be more women coming along, it gets better every year, Pamper Night will have such a great impact on all those who come” says Miss Baker. “These women need to know that people really care”.
