The joy of Sax

The first thing I noticed about SAX cosmetics was that it felt beautiful to hold and looked great. The second was the price. I was surprised at how reasonably the Australian make-up brand available from pharmacies is priced…

SAX used to be around the New Zealand marketplace in the 90s and then left the market, and now it’s back. "We have an exciting new cosmetic developer and have relaunched" says Alana Morgan at SAX.

It started back in 1995 as a family business founded by Morry Wrobel, a chemist with 50 years in the cosmetic industry, and Paule Wrobel, previously an Australian art gallery owner. Paule and Morry decided to combine their talents to bring about am Australian make-up brand; beautifully packaged, yet affordable.

And now, they are launching their latest collection. It has all the favourites that high-priced brands boast; brow-shaping kits, primer, and lengtheing mascara, as well as the important basics: nail polish, lipstick and foundation.

Some of the collection highlights are nail polish in 18 shades and all free of the three nasty chemicals at $9.90, the Perfect Brow Shaping Kit (pictured left) $19.90, Wonder Lash Lengthening and Separating Mascara $19.90, and Rich Colour lipstick (paraben-free) at $16.90.

I was particularly impressed with the quality packaging of their Perfect Veil Foundation SPF15 $24.50, and Nourishing Body lotion $19.99; the latter came in a bottle inside a gift box with a grey stin ribbon all for twenty bucks. Amazing. It is enriched with shea butter and sunflower oils, with Vitamin C and E.

SAX is available in New Zealand from pharmacies.
