This week we’re thinking pink, with what’s hot in pink, from beauty from Weleda, Inika, Clinique, Karen Murrell, Clarins, Kevin Murphy, Lush, Maybelline New York, Ruby, and Trilogy…

Weleda Wild Rose Body Oil, pictured with a pink velvet rosebud pin by NZ designer, Tamsin Cooper. It contains almond oil, jojoba oil, and wild rose for a luxurious post-bath treat. You can also use it on your face as it is free of synthetic preservatives, fragrances, colourants, and mineral oils. It is $37.90 and you can buy Weleda at health stores nationwide. See stockists and shop online at www.weleda.co.nz

As part of Estée Lauder Companies’ support of the New Zealand Breast Cancer Foundation, Clinique has these specially marked pink ribbon Dramatically Different 200ml pump bottles that come with a pink and yellow heart keyring, priced at $100 with $10 going to NZ Breast Cancer Foundation. Estée Lauder Companies has been supporting the New Zealand Breast Cancer Foundation with yearly stock of pink ribbons for the Pink Ribbon Street Appeal, and donations from their Pink Ribbon products during October as well as donating beauty products. The limited edition products which also include a Boobi Brown blush $90 and Estee Lauder Dream pin $39, will be for sale during October.

And speaking of Clinique…

Clinique does brilliant foundations. I remember using them for years and years. So I was excited to see the fabulously-named "Even Better Compact Makeup SPF15", pictured below. It’s an easy to use cream foundation to cover dark spots and sun damage marks, and the compact makes it easy to transport it in your gym bag, car and handbag. The foundation is available for $70 from October. There’s also a primer that targets specific skin problems. The new Superprimer colour corrects for redness and discolourations in differently coloured tubes of primer, so you can choose what best suits you, for a perfect result.

Perfect pinks for everyone… Pink lipsticks make for pretty pouts. Pucker up.

Karen Murrell is perfect for all-natural lips. I’m a big fan of their formulations and colours as well as their sustainable and skin-friendly approach to beauty. This shade, pictured far left below, violet.mousse, is not that violety, more of an easy-to-wear rosy pink that has a blue base and is great on most skintones. It is $30 from Farmers, pharmacies, and online at www.karenmurrell.com

Clarins is perfect for a huge range of colours and has what I think is the loveliest luxury packaging around. I just adore the reassuring click you get closing their cases. Clarins Joli Rouge Brilliant 17 Perfect Shine Sheer Lipstick at $49 continues the trend for gloss-lipsticks with a good depth of colour to them. It has a sparkle tint to the shine, and comes in the classic Clarins silver oval case, and smells fruity, to boot. Watermelon scent, all year round for your lips. Clarins 09 Water Lily Gloss Pordige Intense Colour & Shine Lip Gloss at $42 is much sheerer and incredibly shiny, and also smells fruity. Water Lily is joined with Vibrant Rose as two new permanent shades. Available now at Clarins counters.

Maybelline New York is perfect to get on-trend at a budget price. Pictured below, Maybelline New York Color Sensational Vivids 900 Pink Pop ($20.99) is a stylish hot candy bright that’s quite like my fave MAC ‘Live Forever’ lipstick.

Since I’ve been a blonde – I was previously naturally mousey then a bottle redhead – I’ve needed to think more carefully about colour enhancing shampoos and conditioners. Kevin Murphy has these great-looking pink and lilac bottles of high-performance shampoo and conditioner for blondes who are, should we say, aided by the bottle. Blonde.Angel.Wash is a lavender-infused, colour enhancing shampoo for blonde hair and Angel.Rinse for fine coloured hair is a volumising conditioner for fine, dry or coloured hair. They are sulphate and paraben-free. Available from salons and www.kevinmurphy.com.au

Lush Fresh Handmade Cosmetics classic Rose Jam shower gel is joined this Christmas season with limited edition Snow Fairy shower gel. It is the ideal gift (if you can give it away – maybe buy two so you can keep one?) Available at LUSH stores nationwide and online at www.lush.co.nz

Trilogy has re-released its top selling rosehip oil as Rosapene, a trademarked rosehip oil improved with adding antioxidant-rich cranberry and lycopene from tomato and phytoseterol from acai to the rosehip oil base. It is certified organic and is aimed at brightening skin tone, improving skin elasticity and firmness, and fine lines and wrinkles. It is available wherever Trilogy is sold nationwide and online at www.trilogyproducts.com

RUBY releases nail lacquer to complement its clothing collections each season. This year, they have this divine hot pink for summer 2013 to add a bright colour pop to whatever you’re wearing. Available in RUBY stores and online at RUBY Shop.

For those who are careful of what products they put on their faces, colour cosmetics ranges have been fairly limited. Now, INIKA Organic Cosmetics from Australia have released this new colour collection of Organic Creme Colours for eyes, cheeks and lips. It is INIKA’s first organic creme colour range, and includes creme blush in Rosehip and Dusty Rose at $39 that can be used on both cheeks and on lips (we love a multi-tasker) and a creme eyeshadow colour tube also at $39 in Cappuccino and Champagne. See www.inikacosmetics.co.nz for stockists.
