The Organic Skin Co, created by New Zealander Megan Douglas, has released this makeup line that is cruelty-free, all-natural, and looks incredible on. I am completely impressed with it, both in ethos and efficacy.
My favourite pick is the Sahara (deep pinkish-brown nude) lipstick pictured below right. I’ve also been enjoying the orange-red Harvest Moon which is good for lovers of MAC’s Lady Danger or Morange who like bright orange shades and who want a lead-free organic lippy. They are $33 each from her website, www.worldorganic.co.nz and via her Jasmine Club.
Below: Harvest Moon and Sahara.
Lipsticks and lip glosses are good things to switch over to natural cosmetics for as we eat what’s on our lips. Below: Lip Glosses with a sponge tip applicator wand, in the characteristic wooden lid packaging. They come in plum, beige, mauve, and pink shades for $28 each.
Below: The Organic Skin Co. Cream Blush is made with 63% organic ingredients and retails for $31. It comes in berry, orange, and pink colourways.
Below: The Organic Skin Co. Luminous Foundation in Soft Honey (which I like with yellow undertone skin); also available in Sweet Amber and Rose Sand at $55 each. Many natural cosmetics brands do a pressed mineral powder foundation but it can be hard to find a liquid one (Inika Australia do one too) and this is great. I also like that they have expiry dates on the foundations which you don’t often see on cosmetics and never on ones full of paraben preservatives, so you need to use them before they expire.
A star product in the line is the pressed eye shadow made with pure minerals and extracts. It is available in 8 shades, including this heavenly ‘Burnish’ metallic shade pictured below, at $29 each.
The Organic Skin Co is animal-friendly! My Tonkinese cat, Koshka, cuddling up to it to "assist" me in the photo shoot.
