Bhoy oh boy

It seems he’s been a New Zealand favourite since he began his career as a jester in 2001. For two consecutive years he won the People Choice Award and since then and he has kept coming back – last year 15,000 Kiwis went to his show!

am big on being informed. These areas in order of most importance are: 1) civil defense warnings; 2) Kiwi saver announcements and; 3) comedians.

So, in keeping with my normal rule I utilized my research skills and got crazy informed about Mr. Bhoy.

After finding out the creepy things like what he eats for breakfast, and less creepy things like he is one of four children, I discovered that Danny Bhoy just kind of fell into this career after he had exhausted all other possibilities. He was quickly noticed and began touring the world.

It seems he’s been a New Zealand favourite since he began his career as a jester in 2001. For two consecutive years he won the People Choice Award in New Zealand and since then and he has kept coming back – last year 15,000 Kiwis went to his show! He has also recently preformed on the David Letterman Show, toured America, and filmed a one off set for the BBC at London’s Apollo theatre.

With my best laughing partner in toe we trudged along to the Bruce Mason Centre to Danny Bhoy’s first New Zealand show for this comedy festival – ‘Messenger (please do not shoot)’, which was created especially for his Kiwi fans.

And Bhoy were we blown away! His show is a sort of ‘travel diary’ from his experiences around the world including being Scottish/Indian (which he assures us is a minute minority). He is both good looking and charming and somewhat of a cultural contradiction because he looks Indian but has a sexy Scottish accent.

So New Zealand (and possibly every Scottish man, woman and child living in New Zealand) YOU MUST SEE DANNY BHOY!
