If you’ve been listening to the radio these past few weeks you will most likely have heard the song ‘Bones’. This little number has topped the New Zealand charts and the 27 year old Auckland singer-songwriter of this little ditty was in Auckland celebrating her success. The single has just hit the #1 spot on the NZ Top 40 Singles Chart.
Last night we headed along to Ponsonby Central to hear Ginny Blackmore sing her chart-topping hit and a few other special tunes to a crowd of family and friends, music industry, and media, hosted by Sony Music NZ.
Ginny Blackmore hails from Auckland but left for the UK when she was a teen to continue her musical talents. Writing songs for the likes of Christina Aguilera and Adam Lambert, she is now making a name for herself singing her own material while based in LA.
Supporting Ginny Blackmore last night were up-and-coming New Zealand duo, Joseph and Maia. This very adorable pair (partners both on and off the stage) from Mt Manganui have been singing together since April 2012. Joseph started writing music when he was 14, and they draw inspiration from the likes of legends Cat Stevens, Paul Simon and Bob Dylan. Much like Johnny (Cash) and June, Joseph and M’s sound brings back that easy foot-tapping, tambourine jingle of the 50’s and 60’s – with their own pizazz. Expect to see them touring around New Zealand in August.
