Terry Frisby – TV Whore

Terry Frisby has lived his life as a TV Whore. It started with Telethon in Invercargill and continued after he left New Zealand shores for life in the UK.

In keeping with the spirit of his TV whoredom his stand-up hour is less stand-up and more game show. He wears a suit, and gels his hair and truly embraces the role of game-show presenter. What follows is an hour and-a-bit of show reels with commentary (he promised on opening night that he will cut this back) as Frisby revels in those exhilarating TV days.

The audience were forthcoming with their laughter and the time raced past. In fact, it is nearly impossible to resist laughing at some of the footage from episodes of Wheel of Fortune back in Phillip Leishman’s days, or hear Frisby’s reminiscences from his stint on The Weakest Link.

Terry Frisby is a man who loves the spotlight, to which his more than 20 game and reality TV show appearances will attest, and the show is more a case of him indulging in his glory days, but we are privileged to get in on the joke. The show was a slick hour of witty asides dominated with TV clips and it would have been nice to hear more straight stand-up but it delivers an hour of great laughs – and ultimately, that’s what you’re there for.
