It was clear to all that Jackie Thomas has the X Factor, when she played a gig for the music industry, X Factor NZ crew members, media, and invited guests hosted by SONY Music NZ at Roxy in Fort Lane on Thursday 8th August.
The gorgeous and talented X Factor New Zealand winner’s eponymously-titled first album was released today hot on her win of the reality TV contest that had all of New Zealand talking around watercoolers and online keeping Twitter abuzz.
Her album is currently #1 on the NZ itunes album chart, with Jackie Thomas’s hit debut single, ‘It’s Worth It,’ announced as achieving platinum status. The Greymouth brunette was top of the pops and the voting polls for 7 weeks. Now her single holds the title for the largest opening week sales for any single in 2013.
And the three finalists made an international first, with their singles taking out the top three places in the NZ Top 40 charts last week. Jackie Thomas’ single ‘It’s Worth It’, now certified platinum sat at #1 while Benny Tipene’s ‘Walking on Water’ at #2 and Whenua Patuwai’s ‘Something Special’ sat at #3. Apparently this is the first time The X Factor format has produced the top three singles in any country.

We so enjoyed chatting with her and found her completely charming and lovely. She’s looking forward to returning to hometown Greymouth for a corporate power company gig and to catch up with her family and friends, and I suggested Greymouth should throw her a ticker-tape parade!
