Kiwi band Fly My Pretties are known for the music but perhaps now for their stage costumes as well, with a colab with fashion labels Cybèle and MisteR designing outfits for their current Oct/Nov 2011 tour.
As Cybèle has already worked with cast members Anna Coddington and L.A. Mitchell; and MisteR picked cast member Aaron Tokona’s (AHoriBuzz) song as part of their New Zealand Fashion Week soundtrack, the fit couldn’t be more perfect.
"Dressing the female cast of the Fly My Pretties 2011 tour is a fun project to be involved in. Working with each of the artists, getting to know them individually and seeing everything come together as a whole is an exciting process," says Cybèle Wiren about the collaboration.
Thread first saw boutique menswear label, MisteR, designed by Mickey Lin and Ra Thomson, at NZ Fashion Week this year (read our MisteR review on Thread here.)
Carefully creating each range with limited quantities of hand numbered pieces, MisteR places a strong emphasis on quality, locally sourced fabrics, locally manufactured garments, and is equally passionate about local products.
"MisteR is all about NZ Made goodness, whether it’s clothing, film or music, Kiwis always do it from the heart and with a point of difference," says Ra Thomson.
Led by Barnaby Weir, the latest Fly My Pretties family will combine an exciting and diverse mix of established and up-and-coming New Zealand talent, with performances in Dunedin, Christchurch, Melbourne, Wellington and Auckland.
