Up on Cripple Creek

Wilson Dixon sidles out onto the Sky City Theatre stage and sets up on a stool, on a rug with his guitar on his knee and a banjo sitting by his side. It’s a truly picturesque, middle-American scene and he’s about to bring everyone a visit from the country music Doctor.

Every appearance by this state-side cowboy introduces the crowd to a new facet of the family and background that enriches his folk music with vivid Cripple Creek Colorado flavour.

He plays songs, tells stories, shares memories and wins over the mood of the crowd as much with his musical virtuosity as his sense of the ridiculous.

Tales of his good old friend The Boss, his sister Darlene, confrontations with brothers Jethro and Willard and paying a visit to Uncle Cletus make the folks from back home seem so vivid and real you anticipate with glee discovering what they’ve been up to.

Wilson Dixon is a highlight of the comedy festival and never fails to surprise and entertain. Catch him for his extra show on Saturday May 21, 2011.
