Deryn Schmidt represented Wellington on the runway yesterday at New Zealand Fashion Week and she most certainly did it well.
Known to many as a designer who does clothes that are exquisitely tailored, her A/W 2013 collection named ‘The Wall’ did not fail to disappoint.
The show started with a sea of neutral-coloured garbs – mostly tailored jackets and blazers – which everyone seemed to love. The colour monotony was somewhat broken by the beautiful velvet and silk ensemble – top and bottom respectively.
The silk is geometric-printed in the yummiest shades of lavender, aqua and what I’d like to call ‘taro-milk-tea’ purple.
Pieces that used that fabric were my run away runway favourites.
Another top pick from the bunch would be pieces made out of the floral-printed chiffon which resembles a Chinese watercolour painting – only in much darker hues.
With a wide variety of clothes to choose from (think suits, pants, gowns and skirts), Deryn’s collection is slated to sell like hot pancakes in the upcoming colder months.
