Another busy day down at New Zealand Fashion Week 2012 on Day Two including twenty-seven names, Ingrid Starnes, New Generation, Deryn Schmidt, NZ Weddings, Andrea Moore, Riddle Me This, Trelise Cooper and Kagi.

I’m feeling excited about Fashion Week every day, and I started going in 2001, twelve years ago when I began Thread. It’s a quiter schedule, a reflection of the global financial crisis. There are rumours – as there are every year of late- of it being the last year but Pieter Stewart’s opening speech insisted it would be back and I truly hope she’s right.

A funny point of my day was accidentally photo-bombing Colin Mathura-Jeffree’s live TV4 interview at Trelise Cooper when I stood up right in camera. Embarrassing.

I staggered around in my studded Kathryn Wilson high heels and was just saying to Kevin, "I wish there were jandals in a goody bag", got back to the car and lo and behold, there were fold-up dotty flats in an Emergency Shoes bag in the Trelise Cooper goody bag! If only I’d known earlier.

It’s so funny, but the same girl has been in my seat for two consecutive shows! The same girl. What are the odds? Ushers keep putting her there; it’s not her fault. I must take my seat earlier from now on.

This is definitely the first Fashion Week where I have seen yellow Crocs worn in the front row, albeit worn with irony by Mark Hunter aka The Cobrasnake.

Here are a few photos from Day Two, with full reviews to come for each.

Wednesday 10.00 am Blue Sky – twenty-seven names

The day kicked off quite literally with an Atomic coffee hit at the Showroom 22 follow up event to their summer Blue Sky show, also held at Australia House. Salasai was at the original Blue Sky but this time around is having a solo show onsite on the following day.

I had the pleasure of a fabulous make-over from Smashbox Cosmetics artist Martha at Sofitel Hotel, using the Image Factory make-up collection and the new Muse eyeshadows they are launching at the Designer Selection Shows.

Wednesday 1.00 pm Deryn Schmidt showed a well-tailored and elegant collection with pops of colour.

Wednesday 2.30 pm NZ Weddings was opened by Jaime Ridge modeling a gown by Michelle Yvette.

Head pieces at A La Robe stole the show with flower garlands galore at NZ Weddings.

Suits on male models at NZ Weddings Crane Brothers show or, as it’s known, the eye candy section.

Very cool Opening Ceremony flats on the extremely cool Erica Kent of Beaunz blog.

Wednesday 3.30 pm Andrea Moore

Ponytails erupted from riding caps in ‘The Hunt’ themed show by Andrea Moore.

Wednesday 5.00 pm Riddle Me This

The ‘Riddle Me This’ winter collection was inspired by big bang vs creationism theories.

Wednesday 6.00 pm Trelise Cooper featured a stunning backdrop at with a Victoriana look that suited the Belle Epoque era clothes.

A glowing finale at Trelise Cooper achieved with fibre optic flowers attached to puff skirts.

Wednesday 7.00 pm Kagi

Kagi designer Kat Gee answered the question of "what to wear in a jewellery show" with "feathers." Here: tuis dance on stilts.

Dancers perform a love tryst between red birds wearing Kagi jewellery.

Some bemused expressions on fashion editor faces as the Kagi jewellery dancing birds got hot n’ steamy.

What I Wore: Paul & Joe shirt, Karen Millen trousers, Claire Barker blazer, and a cream silk top I sewed from Zambesi sequins.
