Fashion media have been gossiping over this for weeks, and eagerly awaiting the NZ Fashion Week designer announcement. Finally it is here – the official list of designers showing at NZFW 2013…

Fashion media have been gossiping over this for weeks, and eagerly awaiting the NZ Fashion Week designer announcement. Finally it is here – the official list of designers showing at NZFW 2013, taking place 2nd -7th September just three short weeks away.

Already we knew it was a shorter fashion week this year, with a three day trade and media timetable followed by a three day consumer fashion festival event known as NZ Fashion WeekEND. In fact the lines are blurring between the two in terms of excitement and indeed relevance as many of the biggest labels are finding it vital to show in-season to customers. There are 3 consumer events within about 3 weeks of each other: Marr Factory held in Golden Dawn (26th – 30th August), Fashion WeekEND (6th – 8th September) and the Wellington Fashion Week crew’s ‘Fashion In The Capital 2013’ to be held in Shed11 on the Wellington waterfront from the 11th – 15th September.

Last year at NZFW 2012 there were forty designers listed, but that doesn’t mean forty shows – eight were in NZ Weddings Magazine’s 2012 show, and eleven in Miromoda – the Maori fashion design awards 2012. This year in 2013 the combined trade and consumer schedules have 53 designers comprising both New Zealand and some international labels. As per last year, many are in group shows (NZ Weddings, Miromoda, and the AOK K’Road shows). There’s a really strong contingent of Wellington designers wanting to showcase to Auckland media and consumers, too.

From overseas there’s Kylie Mangan, Alannah Hill, Charlie Brown (back again, hope if a model trips over that Auckland Mayor Len Brown is there to pick them up again), NARAPAZ Design, Gorman, and Tigerlily.
