Sera Lilly 2011
NZ Fashion Week 21 September 2010
The show started with a theatrical bang.
After a short video clip, a huge white curtain that enveloped the entire catwalk was dropped to reveal all 45 models already dressed and made up.
It was quite a thing to see so many of them at once. There have been several shows this week with over 40 outfits coming down the catwalk – one hopes that we can all keep up with the pace!

The first third of ‘Sister of San Salvadore’ was called ‘Andes Adventures’ and was about the ‘sisters’ travelling the terrains of South America and the Andes wrapped in cosy sheepskin (we have seen a bit of that this week), tactile suedes and Aztec inspired knitwear.
We liked the animal print devore pants and dresses, and the full circle skirts and capes in the heavy weave. There was also a rather great floor length camel coat (again we have seen a bit of that this week…)
The second part, ‘First Lady Fiesta’ was all about the dresses – Sera Lilly dresses. Florals, large and small, animal prints, sequins, and a lovely use of peach. Loved the chunky knit that was used for scarves and for a boob tube.
And then the third part was called ‘The Govenor’s Ball’ which was either gowns for weddings, or for special occasions. She does dresses so very well, though I do wonder what would happen it she used slightly better quality fabrics. Loved the black velvet dress with one arm (sounds strange but was very glamorous) and lots of lovely wedding gowns with diamantes at the waist and throat.
Sera Lilly wisely added simple little white fur jackets and stoles for those chilly winter events.
